Theme Installation Types

After theme purchase, you’re actually at the halfway mark. You still have a job in your hand i.e. installation. Without installation, there’s no way of using Aerious. Our documentation will briefly guide you about all the vital installations on account of employing our theme.

Primarily, you must have WordPress installed on your system. We’ve already discussed the basics regarding WordPress and its installation in our introduction section. Later the WordPress installation, now comes the theme installation. There are three basic approaches of installing Aerious:

  1. WordPress Admin Panel
  2. FTP
  3. cPanel

1. Installing Aerious Via WordPress Admin Panel

  • Login to your admin panel with your WordPress credentials i.e. Username and Password
  • After logging in, you’ve finally entered into WordPress Dashboard
  • Go to “Appearance” tab and click on “Themes
  • When you click on “Themes”, “Install Themes” page will open. Following option you’ll see underneath it:

Search | Upload | Featured | Newest | Recently Updated

  • Select the “Upload” option from the above mentioned options
  • When you click on “Upload” option, you will see two buttons i.e. “Choose File” and “Install Now
  • Click “Choose File” and select the theme file from your local PC. Select and open after locating the theme file then click “Install Now
  • Another installation page will open when you click on “Install Now”. You’ll see three option in the following order:

Live Preview | Activate | Return to Theme Installer

  • WordPress will extract and install the theme file in a short while. Next step you need to do is click on “Activate” hyperlink option from this page
  • After this, you’re ready to go to back to your dashboard and can see your newly Aerious in the “Themes tab

2. Installing Aerious Via FTP

Let’s talk a bit about FTP for the beginners. It’s a conventional approach to download or upload files between your web server and local PC. As it’s very rapid and reliable method, therefore, popular among the people as far as theme installation is concerned.

This method requires you to have a FTP program installed on your local PC. We highly recommend you to use FileZilla. Read Using FileZilla « WordPress Codex  for detailed information about it. Now let’s move on to the installation of Aerious through FTP:

  • Login to your FTP program via password, username, hostname and port (provided by your web host) so that you could connect with your web server
  • After successfully logged in, you’ll see two sections Local site includes local system files and Remote site includes server files
  • Locate the theme folder extracted from from local site and paste into the wp-content > themes folder exists on remote site
  • Then login to your WordPress admin panel and go to “Appearance > Themes
  • Here you can see your installed Aerious theme. All you need to do is to select the Aerious theme and click “Activate” button underneath it

3. Installing Aerious Via cPanel

cPanel is another alternative approach for theme installation and also been the secured one for a long time. Therefore, we’ve considered this process as well. If you have not operated the cPanel in the past then read Using cPanel « WordPress Codex for getting complete information regarding cPanel.

As far as installing Aerious via cPanel is concerned, it’s as simple as you like. Simply follow these steps:

  • Login to your cPanel
  • Open cPanel File manager
  • A “File Manager Directory Selection” dialog box will open
  • Select the radio button with the option “Document Root For:” and select your domain from the drop down menu underneath it
  • Press “Go” button, it will redirect you to website’s root directory
  • Then go to wp-content> themes folder and select “Upload” from the top bar
  • Locate and select the theme folder from you local PC. Make sure you use extracted theme folder of Aerious
  • Lastly, login to your WordPress administration panel and open “Appearance > Themes
  • You can see your uploaded Aerious theme. At the end, select the Aerious theme then press “Activate” button
